Washing a 2006 Ford GT w/ Genaddi Design GTX1 Conversion |
|
|
|
After a thorough inspection of this GTX1, it was concluded that to
be completely sure no water drops whatsoever were going to find
their way on to the leather surfaces and interior compartment, a
temporary roof will need to be made so this vehicle can be
washed. Although it may look silly, it worked very well and
served its purpose. Any other detailer could have just been
careful with the hose, that would have been easy but still
risky. Although we were careful with the water stream, we felt
it was important that the interior stay completely dry with no
risks or chances. The areas where tape was going to be affixed
were gently cleaned with a slick detailing spray and microfiber
cloth beforehand. One layer of tape was applied to establish a
border and the storage bags were then sandwiched in-between the
first layer and second layer of tape to ensure the plastic bag
does not come in direct contact with any panel other than glass
to prevent any slight micro-marring. We then placed two highly
absorbent towels on top of the temporary roof to absorb any
miscellaneous water drops. The total time for this project ended
up around 45 minutes. Although it took extra time and resources,
we felt this to be necessary in order to wash this vehicle
correctly. |
